The children's book HET, written and designed by me. "HET" in Dutch means "IT" and is a derogatory term for trans people. The book is intended for kids aged thirteen and older. It contains over 3,000 words.
With this book, I wanted to raise awareness for trans kids who are still struggling with acceptance from many others, including other kids.
For the book's logo, I chose to focus primarily on typography to directly convey what the book could be about. This book was inspired by the coming-out of the well-known Dutch YouTuber Nikkie de Jager, also known as NikkieTutorials.
Summary: Mark is a very popular boy at school and is also doing well with the girls. His best friends Olivier and Mohammed have known him for two years, but they have recently noticed how secretive he is about his body. For instance, during gym class, he waits until everyone is gone to change. What is Mark hiding? This becomes clear when a leaked screenshot from Shannon quickly turns the whole school upside down.
